Croatian landscape murals on North Side honor Chicago-based diaspora. The Croatian Cultural Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary with murals that Glenview artist Ivan (John) Mikan created last year.
In a city as diverse as Chicago, it’s not hard to find fans of many different teams competing for the quadrennial men’s World Cup. This past weekend, there were raucous, standing-room-only gatherings for fans of Argentina, Croatia and Germany on the North Side of Chicago.
The first public murals in the Midwest region of the U.S. to depict the natural beauty of Croatia was commemorated with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

Croatian Community welcomes Archbishop Cupich
(November 18, 2014) The Croatian community also considered Cupich family. More than 250,000 Catholics of Croatian descent call the Chicago area home and Archbishop Blase Cupich is one of them. At the Croatian Cultural Center in the West Rogers Park, members gathered to watch Archbishop Cupich's installation Mass.

Croatian cultural members watch new Croatian-American Archbishop Cupich
(November 18, 2014) Chicago Croatian-Americans gathered at the Croatian Cultural Center in the West Rogers Park neighborhood to watch Archbishop Cupich's installation. Chicago's first archbishop of Croatian descent made the community beam with joy. Many were pleased to see that his Coat of Arms, not only representing this city, but their culture as well.
